Why archives are important?

The primary purpose of this section is to acquaint students and faculty members with the information sources and retrieve the resources. A hard copy is a permanent reproduction of a document in the form of a physical object. Archive Section of NSU Library ensures only the right people can access the proper documents. Archives are essential because they provide evidence of the repository and tell us more about the institution. These documents are increasing our sense of identity and understanding of cultures. Documents archiving is vitally crucial for information management and can give our institutions more significant control over their information processes. As North South University is growing rapidly it is creating more data –  that needs to be meticulously managed and monitored in order to utilize it correctly.

In our country, digital repositories, especially newspapers, started in the year 2010. It is worth mentioning that digital archiving of leading newspaper Prothom Alo started in July 2014 and The Daily Star from Jan 2010.
