To celebrate the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and highlight his life and works, North South University Central Library established ‘Bangabandhu & Liberation War Corner’ on 18 March 2021. Through this corner, faculty and staff members, students, and researchers of the university will be able to get a comprehensive idea about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the glorious history of the birth of Bangladesh, the liberation war. The main objective of this corner is to enrich the present generation with information about the life, work, philosophy of Bangabandhu, and the history of the liberation war and assist in research.
The corner’s physical space is about 1200 sqft, which contains a rich number of books written on Bangabandhu, the history, and the liberation war of Bangladesh. It also includes Bangabandhu’s sculpture, scaled replica of the National Martyrs‘ Memorial, portraits, an abstract national flag on the ceiling, reprint of the newspaper of 1971, relevant audios and videos (movies, documentary & interviews), and photographic events from 1952 to 1972. As a model for other institutions, this corner will play a significant role in bridging the gap between history and the present generation through its resources.
