MEMBERSHIP PROCEDURES FOR STUDENTS
- All students should produce valid registration or proper authorization from the Registrar’s Office and deposit a recent passport size photograph along with duly fill in a prescribed Membership Application Form to the administrative section of the library.
MEMBERSHIP FACILITIES
- A Graduate student may borrow up to three books with related CDs and an Undergraduate student may borrow two books with related CDs at a time for a maximum of fourteen days.
- Transferred/non-degree students may also borrow two books with related CDs at a time for a maximum of fourteen days.
- Short course students may use the library resources, but they are not eligible to check out any type of resources from the library.
- The student member may borrow reference books, reserved books, journals and periodicals to make photocopy from outside vendor for a period of two hours only depositing valid ID Card at the circulation desk.
BORROWING SYSTEMS
- A Bar Coded Member ID is provided to each member for borrowing library resources.
- A student may borrow library resources at any one time for a maximum of fourteen days and resources may be renewed only for further fourteen days provided the resources are physically produced and checked by the staff at circulation desk.
- Library resources are issued only to the members in person without any exception. The members are solely and fully responsible for safe keeping of the resources borrowed and their return on time.
- Library resources are checked out by the designated officer and need to be returned at the circulation desk during the working hours only.
- Borrowers must sign on the Book Card for each resource borrowed.
- Library resources borrowed may be recalled at any time. Normally, reserved or overdue books are recalled.
PENALTY
- Fines are calculated after the expiry of the due date stamped on the slip pasted at the end of the borrowed resources. Tk.20.00 only per calendar day is charged for each item.
- Tk.50.00 only per calendar day fine is calculated after the expiry of the due date for reference books, reserved books, journals and periodicals.
- Borrowers return the same library resources or pay the current value of lost item(s) with 20% service charge to the library.
- Any item not returned within six weeks after due date is considered lost.
RENEWAL OF MEMBERSHIP
- Bar Coded Member ID has to be renewed at the beginning of each semester.
MANDATORY
- Bar Coded Member ID is non-transferable. Any lost ID must be reported to the Librarian immediately.
- Before leaving North South University, the student is required to have a clearance from the library.
