On August 16, 2023, the Minister of the Ministry of Home Affairs in Bangladesh, Mr. Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, MP, visited to the Central Library of North South University. Accompanying him on this occasion was Professor Dr. A A M S Arefin Siddique, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, and Chairman of the  BSS (Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha).

Together, the Hon’ble Minister and Prof Dr. Siddique embarked on a tour of the Bangabandhu and Liberation War Corner within the Library premises. Their honorary visit to this Corner were on that of as the Chief and Special Guests gracing the seminar on the occasion of ‘Bangabandhu’s 48th Martyrdom Anniversary and National Mourning Day’ at North South University.

During their visit, they observed the compelling photographic presentation in the Photography Corner, spanning the years from 1948 to 1972. The University Librarian, Dr. Md. Zahid Hossain Shoeb guided them engaging with exploration of wealth of resources and facilities available in this corner. Dr. Md. Zahid offered a compelling introduction to the corner, weaving captivating narratives that centered on the Liberation War and the revered Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The Hon’ble Minister’s admiration was significant as he beheld the extensive collection of photographs, books, documents, and videography collections on the Liberation War of Bangladesh and the revered figure of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Concluding the visit, the Hon’ble Minister and Prof Dr. Siddique left their marks by signing on the visitor’s comment book.

With this momentous occasion, there was present Ms. Yasmin Kamal, Member, BOT. Prof. Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. M Ismail Hossain, Professor, Economics Dept of North South University were also present during the visit.
