Office of Graduate Studies (OGS) and NSU Library jointly organized Faculty Workshop Program on Scopus for the senior faculty members of NSU. The venue of the program was Cyber Center of NSU Library. During the post-pandemic period, this was the first faculty workshop program where participants were physically present.
The session was conducted by Prof. Sharif Nurul Ahkam, Director, Office of the Graduate Studies and Dr. Md. Zahid Hossain Shoeb, University Librarian. Twenty faculty members from different schools and departments were present as participants.
This workshop program was focused on Scopus, Elsevier’s abstract and citation database. The session covered – Individual Scopus ID creation for the participants, how Scopus helps researchers for the research activities, renowned Scopus Index Journals of different discipline, narrow down of search outcome of a relevant topic, how to find the trending value of research topic(s), visualization of the search result according to year of publications, affiliations and regions. In addition, the number of publications and bibliographic data, references, and details on the number of citations of each published document had been covered by this session.
Calculation of authors’ h-index, Scopus CiteScore, and Impact Factor were introduced at the session.
Along with the Scopus, relevant research support tools subscribed by NSU, like Grammarly, Mendeley and OpenAthens were briefly introduced at the ending session of the workshop.
