On December 24, 2024, North South University Library successfully conducted a workshop on referencing management, utilizing the Mendeley reference management tool. This workshop was specially organized for 26 selected students from the Department of Biochemistry & Microbiology. The initiative was taken at the request of Ms. Nusrat Zahan Rouf (NRO), Lecturer of the Department of Biochemistry & Microbiology, to help her students enhance their academic writing skills through proper referencing techniques.

The workshop took place at the NSU Library’s Cyber and Audio-Visual Section and was conducted by three esteemed library professionals: Mr. Rajiv Mahmud, Assistant Director, Mr. Md. Ashikuzzaman, Assistant Library Officer, and Mr. Rifat Mahmud, Assistant Library Officer.

The session began with a warm welcome from Mr. Rajiv Mahmud, who introduced the participants to the NSU Library’s Online Journal Management System. He provided a detailed demonstration on how to access, locate, and search online databases, as well as how to download full-text articles.

Following this, Mr. Md. Ashikuzzaman led an engaging session on the fundamentals of referencing and introduced the students to the Mendeley reference management tool. The students received hands-on training on how to use Mendeley to create in-text citations and generate reference lists effectively for their academic assignments and research papers.

The workshop concluded with a dynamic Q&A session, where students clarified their queries and shared their feedback. The event ended on a high note with a group photo session, capturing the participants alongside the trainers and library staff.
