On Saturday, June 28, 2025, the NSU Library hosted an informative and engaging orientation session for the newly admitted students of the Executive Master’s in Policy and Governance (EMPG) – 8th batch. The orientation took place at the Cyber and Audio Visual Section of the NSU Library, with six students from the EMPG program in attendance. The session aimed to introduce the participants to the comprehensive array of services and resources offered by the NSU Library, along with providing guidance on effective use of the library’s extensive digital tools and research support services.

Led by Mr. Rajiv Mahmud, Assistant Director, and Mr. Md. Ashikuzzaman, Assistant Library Officer, the program provided the students with a detailed overview of how to navigate the NSU Library system. Participants learned how to search for and issue books using the library’s Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), as well as how to access e-books and e-journals from the library’s subscribed databases. A key focus of the session was on equipping students with the skills to utilize remote access tools like OpenAthens for off-campus access, and to leverage academic research tools such as Turnitin, Scopus, Mendeley, and Grammarly.

Following the informative session, the students were given a guided tour of the library’s various sections. They were shown how to use the self-check kiosks, allowing them to experience firsthand the streamlined book issuing process, which ensures ease and efficiency in managing their library transactions.

This orientation program not only enhanced the students’ understanding of the NSU Library’s vast resources but also emphasized the importance of utilizing these tools for their academic success and research endeavors. The session marked an important step in familiarizing the EMPG students with the library’s offerings, preparing them for their academic journey ahead.
