North South University (NSU) Library celebrated National Library Day 2025 on 5th February 2025, reaffirming its dedication to academic excellence and knowledge-sharing. This year’s theme, “সমৃদ্ধ হোক গ্রন্থাগার, এই আমাদের অঙ্গীকার” (Enrich the Library—Our Commitment), highlighted the vital role of libraries in fostering education and innovation.
The celebration began with an inauguration ceremony graced by the honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, along with the Treasurer, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (IC) Prof. Abdur Rob Khan, Deans of the four Schools, and senior academic and administrative officials. Their presence, along with a large gathering of students, faculty members, and library professionals, made the occasion truly special.
To mark the event, the NSU Library organized a series of initiatives aimed at promoting library engagement and awareness:
- A large banner and additional X-stands were prominently displayed across the NSU campus.
- Distribution of “I Love NSU Library” badges to foster a sense of connection and appreciation among library users.
- Instant user and research services were offered to encourage active utilization of library resources.
- A special library fine waiver was provided for overdue items, allowing users to reconnect with the library without penalties.
- Promotional activities were conducted through the library’s website and Facebook page to increase awareness about its resources and services.
- Short processions, photo sessions, and vibrant decorations with balloons and flowers added a festive atmosphere to the celebration.
As part of the day’s activities, NSU Library organized a Research Support Workshop on “Literature Search Using Scopus and Online Databases and Reference Management Using Mendeley.” Two consecutive sessions were conducted, the first from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and the second from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. A total of 67 students participated in these sessions, expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to enhance their research skills. Students appreciated learning advanced literature search techniques and mastering the easiest ways to manage references using Mendeley.
The NSU Library Day celebration also saw enthusiastic participation from officials and staff members from other departments. The guests and participants enjoyed light refreshments, and commemorative T-shirts were distributed to mark the occasion.
NSU Library’s commitment to fostering a vibrant academic community was evident throughout the day, and the celebration served as a reminder of the pivotal role libraries play in supporting learning and research.
