The North South University (NSU) Library successfully organized an Orientation Program for Graduate Freshers – Fall 2026 on Friday, 25th September, 2026, at the Periodical Section in NSU Library. The purpose of the program was to introduce newly admitted graduate students with the library’s resources, services, facilities, and research support.

The program was divided into two parts. The first part focused on an introduction to the NSU Library, including its facilities, collections, library services, rules and regulations which was conducted by Mr. Rajiv Mahmud, Assistant Director and Mr. Rifat Mahmud, Assistant Library Officer. Students were introduced to the different services and facilities that can support their academic activities throughout their whole student time in NSU.

The second part focused on research support service and also demonstrated how students can effectively utilize various academic and research support tools provided by the library which was conducted  by Dr. Md. Zahid Hossain Shoeb, University Librarian

This part especially covered the following things:

• Reference Management using Mendeley
• Research discovery and citation analysis through Scopus
• Academic writing and grammar enhancement using Grammarly Premium
• Plagiarism detection and academic integrity through Turnitin

Students were also introduced to the library’s electronic resources, databases, online catalog, and various tools and services available for academic research. The session also provided guidance on effective information searching, accessing scholarly resources, and making effective use of the library’s research support services.

The program provided an opportunity for the graduate freshers to become familiar with the NSU Library and understand how they can effectively utilize its resources and services for their academic and research needs.

The NSU Library looks forward to supporting the newly admitted graduate students throughout their academic journey at North South University.
