The North South University Central Library organized a series of orientation programs for newly admitted undergraduate students in summer 2022 to introduce library resources and services. The main objective of the library orientation program was to introduce freshman students to library services and resources, acquaint them with the basic and advanced search techniques on library books and online journals & databases, and educate and guide the freshers about Library Rules. Around 700 newly admitted students of the Summer 2022 semester attended the program on May 29 and 30, 2022, followed by different schools and programs. The NSU Library Officials conducted the sessions.
Mr. M M Shoeb, Senior Assistant Librarian, briefed the students about the general rules, regulations, and library timing of the NSU Library. Mr. Abdul Hakim, Assistant Librarian, demonstrated to the students – how to search books from Library Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). Mr. Rajiv Mahmud, Senior IT Officer, introduced Online Journals & eBook databases, and library research tools to the students.
After the presentation session, an instant quiz was conducted for the participating students. It was a recognition of the quick-learning part of the library orientation session. Students were awarded a copy of book titled ‘The Unfinished Memoirs (Oshomapto Attojiboni)’ by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the nation’s founding father, based on their correct answering of the questions.
At the ending session, the library officers arrange a library tour to show the students all the sections of the library and brief them about the sections. Students were delighted with a light refreshment.
