NSU Library Pigeonhole/Safekeeping Use Guidelines

Policy

The North South University Library offers pigeonhole facilities to enhance the convenience and security of library users wishing to store their personal items temporarily while utilizing library resources. To ensure that this service is used effectively and safely, the library has established a set of guidelines governing the use of pigeonholes. These guidelines are designed to optimize the availability and functionality of the storage spaces, maintain security, and prevent misuse. Users are encouraged to follow these rules closely, which include securing a token upon deposit, using assigned pigeonholes appropriately, and refraining from storing valuable or perishable items. This system aims to provide a structured and reliable method for personal item storage during library visits.

Location:

The North South University Library houses three designated pigeonhole areas for the convenience of its patrons. One is located in the Study Hall on the 2nd floor of the Library building, and the other two are situated on the 3rd floor, positioned near the entry gate of the library’s third level.

Pigeonhole/Safekeeping Use Guidelines
  • Pigeon holes are generally reserved for library users.
  • Receive a token from the security after depositing items in the pigeonhole.
  • Submit the received token to security to collect all of your belongings. Do not take any items from the pigeonhole without informing security.
  • Use only the assigned pigeonhole; avoid occupying multiple slots. If the pigeon holes become full, do not keep your items unless you receive tokens.
  • Ensure your items fit comfortably within the designated space to avoid damage to both the rack and your belongings.
  • The library is not responsible for lost or stolen items left in the pigeonholes. While using pigeon holes, do not deposit valuable items (e.g., mobile phones, laptops, wallets, important documents etc.).
  • Pigeon holes are intended for short-term storage. Don’t leave your belongings unattended for extended periods.
  • Do not leave perishable food items or liquids in the pigeon holes.
  • Do not use the pigeonholes for any illegal or unauthorized activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized space. Avoid leaving trash or unnecessary items in the pigeon holes.
  • If the belongings are not taken from the pigeonhole (level 3) within the specified time, they will be kept in the pigeonhole of Study Hall.
  • If a pigeonhole token is lost, a fine of BDT 300 must be paid at the bank. To facilitate this payment, please obtain a fine payment receipt from the Library circulation desk.
