General Rules for Library Users
Policy
Welcome to North South University Library, a cornerstone of academic support and resource access. Our library is dedicated to fostering a conducive environment that promotes learning and research. To ensure that all patrons can utilize our facilities effectively and comfortably, we have established a set of general rules. These guidelines are designed to maintain the library’s integrity as a quiet, clean, and respectful space. We encourage all users to familiarize themselves with these rules to help preserve the quality of our shared academic environment.
Please take a moment to review the following standards of conduct and use, which outline what is expected of each visitor to our library.
- The library is mainly a place for self-paced study. Therefore, silence is required throughout the library wherever indicated.
- The cell phone must be kept in silent/vibration mode in the library and should not be used anywhere within the main library premises.
- Foods, beverages/cold drinks, gossiping, and group discussions are not allowed on the main floors of the library.
- Personal belongings (e.g. bags and personal books) are not allowed in the main library. There is pigeonhole to keep your personal belongings. However, see Personal Book Use Guidelines for using personal books in the library.
- Writing or marking in books is strictly prohibited.
- If a library book is discovered with a student outside the library without proper checkout, the student will be considered in violation of library rules. In cases of such misconduct, the library will refer the matter to the proctor’s office, which will then take appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the NSU code of conduct.
- Any offenses/indecent behavior will be pursued immediately under the university’s codes of discipline.
